Long Range Facilities Planning

Long Range Facilities Planning is a process of looking at a list of the district's facility and maintenance needs, population projections, and potential new school sites, and creating an analysis and plan to address these needs.

This process is collaborative and included staff, families, and community members working together. Once the plan is complete, it will be communicated to all stakeholders and referenced regularly to ensure that the district is making progress.

A third party company did a thorough tour of our district in order to create a comprehensive list of needs at all our our schools and buildings. This list also includes real industry estimates of costs. This document is called the Facility Condition Assessment (FCA), and can be viewed here.

Over recent years, the district has been able to allocate some general fund resources to the capital projects fund. Historically that has been about 1% of our general fund budget. This amount ensures that money is not taken away from the classroom. We also receive tax dollars when new homes are built. Last year we received $416,000 from new permits that can be for new construction or remodels . But we still have needs that exceed our funding options. When this happens, school districts can consider a school bond package where voters in the community vote on the bond measure.
